Oh Hyunju, Von -ir (it’s myour fault)
Seemingly contrary actions and feelings occur at the same moment. Beatings and embraces are depicted simultaneously. This is how the complexity of a relationship between two people is to be shown. But we cannot intervene in the rendition. We are merely observers. Is the relationship to God also characterised by this in part contradictory diversity? The Bible already describes both the love and anger of God in close proximty. It is often difficult to bring all these emotions together in our image of God.

Veiled by the contrast between black and white, Hyunju Oh engages with the transition zone of guilt and innocence. The void highlighted between two ropes shows the ‘in-between’. Like in a ‘film noir‘, the person irritated by false perceptions is unable to distinguish between good and evil. This tangible ambiguity shown in the video sequence is intensified by acoustic disturbances. Vibrating ropes move to whooshing sounds that express this felling of anxienty.

Scheinbar gegensätzliche Handlungen und Gefühle geschehen im selben Augenblick. Schläge und Umarmungen werden simultan dargestellt. Die Komplexität einer Beziehung zwischen zwei Personen soll so abgebildet werden. Wir können in die Darstellung jedoch nicht eingreifen. Wir sind lediglich Beobachter. Kennt die Beziehung zu Gott ebenfalls eine solche, teils widersprüchliche Vielfalt? Bereits die Bibel beschreibt sowohl die Liebe als auch den Zorn Gottes auf engstem Raum. Die Integration all dieser Emotionen in unser Gottesbild bereitet oft Schwierigkeiten.

In den Kontrast von Schwarz und Weiß gehüllt, widmet sich Hyunju Oh der Übergangszone von Schuld und Unschuld. Die mit Schlaglicht zwischen zwei Seilen präsentierte Leerstelle, zeigt auf das „Dazwischen“. Dem Film Noir ähnelnd, ist der von falschen Wahrnehmungen irritierte Mensch unfähig, Gut von Böse zu unterscheiden. Diese spürbare Doppeldeutigkeit, die in der Videosequenz vorgeführt wird, ist mittels akustischer Irritation intensiviert. Vibrierende Seile bewegen sich zu rauschenden Schallklängen, welche dem Gefühl dieser Beklemmung Ausdruck verleihen.
